RESEARCHER CAPT. TREVOR SHIMULUNAS, USMC

Trevor SHIMULUNAS
Captain, USMC
Area of Study: China-Burma-India Theater
Unit focus: 1st Air Commando Group, 319th Troop Carrier Squadron
Joined the team May 2020

Trevor learned of the Silent Wings Museum and the LBS Research Team while trying to find more information about his great-uncle, Leroy Shimulunas, who was a Glider Pilot in Burma during Operation Thursday. His own resources having been expended, he was amazed to learn that in another part of the country a team maintained a file on Leroy. The LBS team was able to provide details of the military operation in which his relative gave his life. Shimulunas has since accepted an offer to join the team, and hopes to be able to shed more light on other WWII Glider Pilot experiences with their family members.

Shimulunas is an active duty Captain in the USMC, and hopes that his personal experiences will lend insight into the documents and materials he reads, as well as lend to his ability to relate to family members hoping for more information. He will be putting most of his focus into the CBI Theater.
